By day or by night, by foot or by boat; February is definitely the month of guided tours. Here are the best, with an architecture exhibition and creative workshop thrown in for good measure.

Architecture on the Thames Sunset Tour

Sail down the Thames whilst watching the sun set over London’s most iconic landmarks on this Open-City boat ride. The tour takes in many of the city’s most breath-taking buildings, including those that Wordsearch has had the pleasure of working on, such as Battersea Power Station and The Shard.  February 14th.

New London Tour: The City

If cruising on foot is more your thing, try New London Architecture’s walking tour, where you’ll explore the city’s medieval streets, and the major commercial buildings that rest upon them. 14th February.

Design Quest: Green Growing Cities

Half-term is here again, and RIBA are holding children’s creative activity sessions. This session gives 7-11 year olds the chance to design and build a green, growing city; they’ll also take home a ‘seed-bomb’ to plant mini-parks at home. Entertainment for them, a spruced up garden for you. Book now! February 17th.

Photography Tour – Architecture by Night

Led by an acclaimed architectural photographer, this tour will teach budding photographers night-time photography techniques. You’ll learn how to get the best shots of the illuminated city’s buildings, and discover which methods produce the most stunning results.  Places to be snapped include The Monument, the Lloyd’s Building, Heron Tower and Tower Bridge. February 25th.

Mackintosh Architecture Exhibition

This month, an exhibition devoted to the architecture of celebrated Scottish architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh opens at RIBA. It features over 60 original drawings and watercolours, models, films and portraits, including his original design for the Glasgow School or Art. From February 17th.
